New facility in Monterrey, Mexico to expand Festo’s market in Americas
Festo has broken ground at a site in Monterey, Mexico for its first manufacturing plant in the Americas.
Festois the world’s leading supplier of automation technology and technical education, and the manufacturer continues to expand its reach internationally. The company is investing $100 million into building a new facility in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico to expand its production capacity for the North and South American markets.
Reinforcing supply-chain resilience for key Festo products used in these continents,the new plantpositions the company closer to these markets with great growth potential – highlighting its “Local for Local” philosophy.
Close to United States border
Construction is underway on the new Mexican plant, and initial production is scheduled for 2025. The facility will provide automation solutions for several key industries in the Western Hemisphere, including mining, electronics, pharmaceuticals, and the automotive sector.Festois building the plant in the renowned Interpuerto Monterrey industrial park, the site of other major international companies and customers and only 200 kilometres from the United States border. The location is also close to the city’s airport and other Festo Monterrey facilities.
One of the most important industrial locations in Latin America, Monterrey is the home of international universities and well-trained professionals. Although Festo has not manufactured in Mexico yet, it has valuable connections with technical universities and loyal customers in the city; the company also maintains a Festo Didactic training centre and sales office in Monterrey.
Festo laid the first stone of this new facility on May 25. Its construction will consist of three phases and gradually generate 1,500 new jobs. New Festo manufacturing facilities in Mexico will provide an important basis for the company’s future growth and further strengthen its global competitiveness and resilience in supply chains.
